header_3_text_shadow_style=&#8221;preset3&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/divi:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- divi:heading --><\/p>\n<h3><b>Organized Folders Structure<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/divi:heading --><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don\u2019t do it already, now is the time to start\u2026<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I would recommend naming all your projects folders by beginning with the date in the format YEAR-MONTH-DAY. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this way, your projects, will always be organized in a chronological way. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On my side for audio projects I will always name my folders like this:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YEAR-MONTH-DAY_ARTIST_TITLE_SESSIONTYPE<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ex:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 2020-07-20_GABS-E-Kinetic_Mixdown <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For projects for other artists, I just add their unique reference number per project with me between \u201cDAY_\u201d and \u201c_Artist\u201d so it\u2019s easy to link back even if i\u2019m not familiar with the names yet. <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course you may create and use your own naming structure.<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the global project folder, I\u2019ll create different folders for the Session, the original Audio Files and the Prints (exports). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">See Using a dedicated solution or batch file to automate basic &amp; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h3><b>Clean &amp; Accurate\u00a0<\/b><b>Files\u00a0<\/b><b>Identification<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A good project &amp; files management with a flawless workflow starts by taking the time to save &amp; identify your files accurately and in a clean way. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When creating\/saving a session, make sure:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; That you know where you are saving the session, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/> <\/span><b>&#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That you have copied the eventual external files into the new session\u2019s project folder, usually your daw offers a function for this.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/> <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Called Save copy in on Protools, Collect all and Save on Live, Copy external media on Studio One. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; background__hover_enabled=&#8221;on|hover&#8221; background_color__hover=&#8221;rgba(0,127,31,0.45)&#8221; background_enable_color__hover=&#8221;on&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I always keep a little notepad on the side of my desk so that I can write every evening what will be my things to do and priorities for the day after. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each day I will also either mark as completed or transfer a task to the next day if needed. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I -try to- keep it short and only write the \u201cIn-Progress\u201d projects or urgent priorities, so it is always a list doable in one day without overworking. (Just the 2-3 most important things to do that day).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think that really helps to ensure you achieve at least 3 important things each day.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that you don\u2019t forget important stuff to do.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_cta][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.5.0&#8243; Similar tracks order based on the tracks categories,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Same Color Code based on tracks categories, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Same track names for specific elements,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Using folders and\/or groups\u00a0 to keep the session organized and easy to work with.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those are\u00a0 pretty logical but not always done and will definitely help to have a clearer overview of your session.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/divi:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/smartdsp.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Session_Organized.png&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;dark&#8221; header_3_text_shadow_style=&#8221;preset3&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/divi:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- divi:heading --><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On my side with a mixdown session I always have from left to right :<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kick (orange), Drums (yellow), Percs or Special Drums (another yellow shade), Bass (red), Melodic Instruments, Pads, Ambiences (different blue shades), Vocals (green), Sound Effects (purple), Effect Returns (white). <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My busses (grey) are always on the right of the last track of each category.<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If i add an FX channel for a specific elements, I keep it on the right of that element, if for multiple ones, I\u2019ll keep it at the extreme right of the session just before the MIXBUS, RoughMix &amp; header_3_text_shadow_style=&#8221;preset3&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/divi:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- divi:heading --><\/p>\n<h3><b>Multiple Backup Systems<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/divi:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- divi:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have all met this friend or colleague who has lost all of his work, personal files\u2026 because of the computer suddenly dying, due to an accident or not. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or maybe worst, it already happened to you\u2026 If so you\u2019ve already learned this one the hard way: The value of backups! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you haven\u2019t experienced this yet, consider yourself lucky and make sure you have a minimum of backups in place, so when it comes, you\u2019ll be ready to go on without losing any precious files! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A pro is someone that won\u2019t say \u201cOh sorry my computer crashed and I lost your project\u201d nor anything of this kind. A pro won\u2019t be in this situation because he has everything in place to prevent this kind of thing from happening. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be at different stages such as having a secondary\/emergency electricity power generator in the studio, ready to engage in a matter of milliseconds if the main one has a surge or stops working, therefore, it wouldn\u2019t even stop the recording\u2026 But here we will focus on digital files backups. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I would recommend to always keep 3 backups of any important file. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><b>Backup Places: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; One could be local so you have the original on the side, just in case the version you are working on becomes compromised.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; One could be on an external hard drive (ideally RAID storage).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; And finally one on some dedicated or virtual server or cloud storage. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><b>Backup Modes:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Manual sync: transfer your data manually from your computer to a drive or cloud storage.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Auto sync: transfer your data automatically from your computer to a drive or cloud storage at a specified time interval. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Manually triggered auto sync: transfer your data automatically within some specific folders once you manually trigger the transfers. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On my side I use the third option with a private service on a daily basis to backup all files after each session.\u00a0 I just .zip the files and move the .zip within the backup folder structure before starting the application which will auto sync it.<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I also use the first option to migrate each week the data stored on the main backup system to a dedicated server.
